Lovely run down to Braunston

What a beautiful autumn day we have had today.  This morning as we set off to cover the two and a bit miles into Braunston the countryside looked resplendent.

The early morning sun cast shadows across the remnants of the medieval strip field system, clearly delineating the strip and furrows.

We passed a team of men strimming the towpath edge

Workers reflected in the water as Yarwood noses around the curve

Servicing Yarwood.

Once serviced we managed to secure a 14 day mooring just short of The Boat Inn and took ourselves off to AJ Canopies but they were closed, then Tradline for a new fender for the stem and a couple of shackles.   We went up into the village for some fresh milk and a newspaper and had lunch in The Old Plough which is under new management and much improved!
