Late this morning we cut the
umbilical cord (shore power, don't you just love it?) and headed off to find the diesel point at Aston marina. Sod's law intervened, barely any boat movements in the marina but as we approached the fuel supply there was a boat sitting on the staging waiting for service. we initially pulled alongside but then another boat wanted to exit the marina so we pulled back and straddled a number of finger pontoons until our turn for service arrived. Here at Aston Marina the service point for fuel and pump-outs is sited
under a bridge hole and there is only space for a single boat... still service was good and you can self declare so..
The chap serviced ahead of us had £90 worth of diesel, ALL at domestic rate....he didn't row or punt the boat out of the marina though???
Paul, Sammy and Bombo came over to make sure we left - we however will linger in Stone tomorrow for a social gathering with the winter moorer's of Aston Marina at the Exchange Inn, dogs welcome and good beer apparently so it would be the height of rudeness to decline that kind of invitation...
We found a mooring below Star Lock with just enough room for the 66 ft + feet that Yarwood requires
Our mooring for the next two nights
