I'm home!

Hi folks, this is Fletcher giving you all an update on my weekend away.  Things have been a bit  traumatic but I understand Mum has given you a quick resume on what has happened to me but this is the down and dirty inside story.
While out on a walk something attacked me! It seems that a basking snake, an adder, took a dislike to my fine looks and bit ME!  Mum thought I had been stung and it wasn't until the following morning when my handsome face was so swollen and I had no appetite - Yes a Labrador without an appetite is serious stuff - that Himself and Mum got on the old web and found a Vet doing an out of hours surgery.  I was whipped off to Southend-on-Sea and met Rachel the Vet.  Poked and prodded about I admit I whimpered a bit and the lovely lady thought I should stay in hospital for the night so I was abandoned. Off they waltzed leaving me to face the world alone!  Throughout the night I was  shaved and needles were stuck in me, but I was stoic and brave...then I let them have it and whined and woofed for hours only going to sleep at midnight...that will teach 'em I thought!

In the morning Mum called to see how I had behaved and that delayed my breakfast...by now I was feeling very, very hungry. At lunch time Rachel, the lovely Vet, came to see me again and poke and prod me, stick more needles in me and then decided that I could go home with Mum, Dad and little Bro.
So I am back on the boat in my own comfy bed and I am being fed lots of medicine disguised as pieces of cheese - they think I don't know what they are up to - and I am going to see yet another Vet in Stone on Wednesday.  Thank you for all your good wishes and I will let you all know how I am progressing when I have had my next appointment.

  1. Nice post Fletcher. Glad to see you're back home and feeling better. I'll bring you a bag of pork scratchings over next time I come over for a play - they're wicked.
    Loads of love

  4. Fletcher it's good to know that you are home safe and sound. When you go to the vet in Stone, have a look around for my big sister Cassie - it was from there that she went to Rainbow Bridge. If you see her still hangin' around, send her on her way with a big kiss from us! Love Ozzy ( and Pip & Roger) xxx

  9. Hi Fletcher
When I go down the vettinry they always stick a pin in my arm and I do not like.
But you is a big dog and I is just a pussacat. So I think you should man up.
But now you know that the best thing about being poorly is TREATS! I get them every day now. Pretend to be poorly for a long while for extra treats. That's my tip.

    1. Dear Tiger
I don't usually communicate with pussacats but as you seem to have some whizz ideas about treats I am all ears..
      Nice one Tiger

  10. Dear Lesley,
These things are very nasty and a ghastly experience for poor traumatised Fletcher, I suggest that you monitor him carefully tonight, best to have him close of course, bung Joe into the lounge and have him in bed with you.
I shall bring tasty treats for Joe....

Fletcher is in accord with you but wants you to know that it is Him that needs the tasty treats rather than his Dad. I think that a night with Fletcher might have its advantages...he rarely snores whereas....
