Ten minutes awaiting and....

I got back to Yarwood yesterday morning having been busy in Essex Christmas shopping for the past two days.  We are now moored in a wintry Ely and this morning I went up into the City for an appointment with my bank.  I arrive for the 10.30 meeting five minutes early, book in and take a seat.
Fifteen minutes later, now ten minutes AFTER my appointment and no sign of the promised financial whizz-kid so I collar the receptionist and ask her to pass a message on...
"I had/have a meeting, 10 minutes ago, I am now leaving would you mind telling Ermintrude that keeping a customer waiting for 10 minutes is EXCEEDINGLY RUDE.....thank you."

So back to the boat and transfer funds from said Bank to......someone else.
I felt so much better!

  2. Good for you. Maybe anonymous works for a bank and does not understand concepts such as courtesy, respect and consideration.

Thank you. Who knows what goes through 'Anon's' mind....?

  3. Hi Lesley, I bank with Smile after I got fed up with my useless bank, they are the online arm of the Co-op bank. Cannot fault them, have been with them about 4 or 5 years now and they're really good. Only make ethical investments too. Worth a look if you're going to change banks.

    1. Thanks Abby. I have just shifted a bit of ISA money to another provider. I have no issues with the service we normally receive but if we did I will look at the Co-Op. A number of the LTSB branches are being transferred to Co-OP under the Government'break-up-the-Banks-scheme-to-ensure-more-competition'...

    1. Hi Anon...
I am hoping that my message will serve to modify behaviour. I really wouldn't want to get someone reprimanded or sacked for this slip. I have voted with my feet anyway.

  5. Hi Paul
You expect to be kept hanging on at the Doctor's surgery but that 'expectation' is because the NHS has you over a barrel really; however, the instance at the bank was simply not acceptable and I chose to politely make that clear.
As for my anonymous critic, I don't understand what motivates that kind of behaviour but perhaps they were the school yard bully and trolling on the internet is a good substitute for them???

  6. You have a lovely looking boat, a nice lifestyle and wonderful scenery each day.
Your thoughts are published for all to read.
I suspect what anon is trying to say, without
knowing them, is to be positive in your blogs.
There is far too much negative material to read elsewhere, without reading gripes on your blog.

    1. Hi AA
You are quite right, we do have a lovely boat and enviable lifestyle for which we are truly grateful but I don't think my anonymous critic is as generous in their thinking as you ascribe and even if he/she was their are better ways to express their view...your way for example.
I don't want to bitch and gripe for the sake of it, I simply recorded what happened and how I reacted and nice life or not, good service is still appreciated and poor service not so.
Thanks for commenting and I hope my occasional whinge will be tolerated..

    2. Do some people not realise that reading the blog is a choice? It's not mandatory!!! If anon and their mate don't like what you write, how about simply not reading it? It's like people who complain about swearing on certain television programmes which always contain swearing. Don't watch them if you know they offend you.
      Rant over.
      Abby.

  7. We used to have a problem with our bank treating J and I differently, due to the prefix of Dr before his name. Until he made a complaint and told them he would be moving the money to another bank if they didnt buck their ideas up. Apologies were made quite quickly by the branch manager.
A simple, we're sorry to be keeping you waiting, apologies if this is causing you any inconvenience, is not difficult to manage.
    Love the new boat too.

  8. Hi Emma
Great to hear from you. I asked after you and J when we met up with the Ducks. I understand that you have an addition to the tribe ...well done.

On the Bank, I think a business generally benefits from honest feedback - so would some of our 'services' but that is another matter...
I wasn't rude, I didn't name the Bank or the individual and I haven't written complaining. I am sure that the message would be passed to X by their colleague and that should have been sufficient to make it clear that the service fell short.
Yes, I moved some funds as well but frankly that was on the cards anyway.
Take care and thanks for the compliment re Yarwood..

Voting with your feet over rudeness to you taking your own money to do with as you wish.... yeah you were really unreasonable Lesley hahaha
