Daisypath Anniversary tickers

Here we go..

We were up at the crack of dawn this morning, dogs walked, boat readied and we were off...
First stop Peterborough service point.
By 8am we were heading up stream towards our 1st lock at Orton and the wind was beginning to pick up speed.   I had called the River Inspector to check on some over runs of winter maintenance work and learnt that these would not be completed until Saturday morning so our trip today would necessarily bit shorter than planned.   We had thought to head for a mooring at Wansford but there was already a boat moored there according to EA so we settled for a rather 'familiar' mooring at Alwalton; it was here we spent three weeks last summer caught by the floods!
By the time we got to Alwalton the wind was slinging us around quite a bit anyway so stopping didn't seem such a bad idea.

Winding (turning) Yarwood  using the river flow at Peterborough

That's it, we are off ..service point next stop The Parkway bridge in front of us.

This bridge is a bit more attractive

 Yarwood moored at Alwalton

Once moored up it was dog walking time and surprisingly the ground underfoot was not wet, no wet at all, even along the river side.  Windy, cold but beautifully bright and sunny and a real pleasure to be out in this lovely countryside.

Someone....went paddling

It looks different with the water back inside it's banks - any sign of the Kites nesting again this year?

  2. Hi Jill
Yes, there are a pair of Red Kites flying about and showing off...lovely sight to see. Dog walking here was a real pleasure if you stop here.
    Speak soon, take care
