Hi folks, this is Fletcher giving you all an update on my weekend away. Things have been a bit traumatic but I understand Mum has given you a quick resume on what has happened to me but this is the down and dirty inside story.
While out on a walk something attacked me! It seems that a basking snake, an adder, took a dislike to my fine looks and bit ME! Mum thought I had been stung and it wasn't until the following morning when my handsome face was so swollen and I had no appetite - Yes a Labrador without an appetite is serious stuff - that Himself and Mum got on the old web and found a Vet doing an out of hours surgery. I was whipped off to Southend-on-Sea and met Rachel the Vet. Poked and prodded about I admit I whimpered a bit and the lovely lady thought I should stay in hospital for the night so I was abandoned. Off they waltzed leaving me to face the world alone! Throughout the night I was shaved and needles were stuck in me, but I was stoic and brave...then I let them have it and whined and woofed for hours only going to sleep at midnight...that will teach 'em I thought!
In the morning Mum called to see how I had behaved and that delayed my breakfast...by now I was feeling very, very hungry. At lunch time Rachel, the lovely Vet, came to see me again and poke and prod me, stick more needles in me and then decided that I could go home with Mum, Dad and little Bro.
So I am back on the boat in my own comfy bed and I am being fed lots of medicine disguised as pieces of cheese - they think I don't know what they are up to - and I am going to see yet another Vet in Stone on Wednesday. Thank you for all your good wishes and I will let you all know how I am progressing when I have had my next appointment.
